This gorgeous shawl and pillowcase will be an heirloom for years to come.  Featuring a arch design with crowns on top, this 9 row crochet edging recreates a stunning antique heirloom look.

Edging is approx 7cm deep from hem of shawl.   The thread used is a shiny rayon (faux silk) or a microfibre thread that has a gorgeous sheen.   Choose your fabric base depending on season or budget, and thread colour, and we will create your unique baby shawl just for you.

Crochet is an ancient craft which is worked with fine thread and a hook by skilled artisan workers.   Your shawl is carefully and lovingly hand worked, with the intricate lacework taking many, many hours to complete.  This effect and type of lace cannot be achieved easily by machinery, so the skills required by crochet workers live on, down the generations to today.  The lace edging pricing reflects the labour intensive hours that go into creating your treasured shawl; a true piece of art.

  • CABELLA fabric

Cabella is a cream medium weight fabric with a soft brushed on one side.  This shawl is great for Winter babies.

    67% polyester, 35% cotton

This is our classic shawl base for those who are looking for the cheapest option.

  • LINEN fabric

A classic light weight plain weave linen with a vintage finish, available in a range of seasonal colours.

An increasingly popular choice for shawls with that little bit of difference.   100% premium linen.

Linen is very strong and absorbent and dries faster than cotton. Because of these properties, linen is comfortable to wear in hot weather and it's tendancy to wrinkle is one of it's most recognised characteristics.  Choose a linen shawl for summer or spring babies.

  • WOOL CREPE fabric

Wool crepe is a stable fabric with a distinctively crisp, crimped surface texture created by the tightly crimped yarns and slack warp yarns used in weaving. Crepe is made of woolen (shorter staple) or worsted (longer staple) yarns. Wool crepe fabric is loosely woven in either a plain weave or a crepe weave.

Hand washable, drip dry flat.  Cold gentle hand wash recommended for heirloom items.

EMPIRE WOOL CREPE:  100% Premium Wool Crepe available in cream.   330gms weight.

Designed and made in Italy.  Dryclean only.

  • CASHMERE fabric

Cashmere is a very delicate and extremely soft fibre. Shawls made from cashmere are lightweight but luxuriously warm & cosy for babies. Our cashmere shawls are direct from the factory in Kathmandu, Nepal; made to order just for you! Their goats are organically farmed and the naturally soft fleece is combed from the downy undercoat of the goat’s neck and underbelly using traditional techniques. These gorgeous shawls are handspun and woven in Nepal, then shipped to us in NZ.

Cashmere shawls are extremly delicate and can get damaged easily if you carelessly wash and maintain them.

    • Hand wash very gently in lukewarm water using neutral detergent for silk, wool, and cashmere. Be sure to dissolve the detergent thoroughly. Then put the garment into the water. Wash colored garments separately
    • Never wring it or twist it to remove water. Squeeze gently
    • Use damp press clothes to protect the delicate fibers;  use a cool iron; iron from the inside of the garment. Never iron it directly.
    • Lay flat in shade to dry. The thin fibers of pashmina are weaker when wet.
    • Store your pashmina shawl folded or rolled in a well-ventilated cupboard shelf wrapped in a breathable muslin cloth.

    30% Cashmere / 70% wool

  • WOOL GAUZE fabric

It's fragile appearance is misleading: this baby shawl is strong and will last down the generations if cared for and stored correctly. A very warm, rich cream colour. This shawl and pillowslip set is perfect for the warmer climate or even for a Spring Summer baby.
