Hand-Crocheted Merino Wool Circular Baby Shawl
Your hand-crocheted baby shawl has been lovingly made from Patons Dreamtime 2-ply, 100% Australian Merino Wool Baby Yarn. With proper care, it will remain soft and beautiful for many years.
Washing
- Hand wash only in cool to lukewarm water (30°C or below).
- Use a wool-safe detergent specifically designed for delicate fibres.
- Gently swish the shawl through the water—do not rub, wring or twist.
Rinsing
- Rinse thoroughly in cool water until all detergent is removed.
- Support the shawl fully when lifting it from the water, as wet wool is more delicate.
Drying
- Gently press out excess water by rolling the shawl in a clean towel.
- Do not wring or hang the shawl, as this may stretch its shape.
- Lay flat on a dry towel or drying rack and reshape while damp.
- Allow to air dry naturally, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Ironing
- Usually unnecessary.
- If needed, use a cool steam setting or lightly steam from above without pressing directly onto the lace.
Storage
- Store clean and completely dry.
- Fold neatly rather than hanging.
- Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- For long-term storage, place in a breathable cotton bag with natural moth deterrents such as cedar blocks or lavender sachets.
Merino wool is a natural fibre that becomes beautifully soft with use. Small variations are part of the charm of a handcrafted item and are a testament to its handmade quality. With gentle care, this shawl is designed to become a treasured heirloom that can be enjoyed for generations.
